Like so many other people who love their dogs, we bought the best dog food and treats we could imagine from a pet store. Most dogs continue to get what many of us have come to understand as "normal" illnesses and allergies. Our dogs were so affected, with food allergies, that we tried many of the prescribed dog foods and varieties, along with prescription pills, all of which were not effective.

In the summer of 2007, we were faced with making a difficult decision - to put our girl, Mia, to sleep; as a result of renal failure. Only two months later we were forced to make the same decision - to put or little guy, TJ, to sleep; as a result of liver failure. This was one of the toughest times in our life. Our two other Pugs (Rocky and Adrienne) were lost and we were saddened by the void left in our lives.

Rocky and Adrienne continued to have skin & allergy issues (itching, shedding and balding), which we considered "normal" health issues. Around this period of time the infamous dog food scare was getting attention in the news. The more we read and researched the more we were amazed to see what dog food and dog treats are made from. We resigned ourselves to do whatever we could to make sure that our Pugs were getting the best food possible. With hundreds of dollars on veterinary bills & food trials we decided to do our own research. The more we learned about what really goes into "dog" food (even the best dog foods); the more we realized we needed make a positive change.

Many dog foods contain just about anything that humans do not or can not eat (unused animal parts, preservatives, chemicals, by-products, etc). After months of research we became more educated in what a dog requires to be healthy and happy long term. We also learned what products can contribute too many health issues and prevent a dog from leading a long and healthy life.

Since 2007 we have been feeding our dogs nothing but our home made treats and our Pugs nothing but our home made dog food. The Pugs hot-spots, Itching, shedding, and food allergies have disappeared. All of our dogs have the healthiest looking coats and so many of their "normal" issues are gone. Our Veterinarian says that he has never seen the Pugs healthier.

We owe our dogs the best, they are our family too. As humans we watch what we eat every day (watching our consumption of fat, calories, sugar, and preservatives) and want to put only the very best, healthiest foods in our body. We want to live long healthy lives, limit our illnesses, cancers and more. Most of us love our dogs more than we love ourselves, so why not do the same for them. They will love you for it.
